ーー Satoshi Tomiie (Abstract Architecture) Satoshi Tomiie has been a pioneering and driving force in the global electronic music community since the early days of house music. Decades after his track Tears alongside Frankie Knuckles, the Japanese-born, New York-based DJ, producer, remixer, and label boss remains a staple in the sets of today’s underground elite. A globally respected DJ, Satoshi regularly plays clubs and festivals across Europe, the Americas, and Tokyo, delivering forward-thinking sets that bridge house, techno, and beyond. He continues to release music on his own Abstract Architecture imprint, as well as labels such as A_A, Yoyaku, Phonogramme, and 2020 Vision. A student of jazz and classical piano, Satoshi is a musically adept and accomplished producer who constantly evolves his craft. In recent years, he is experimenting with an all-hardware live setup, bringing his beloved studio machines to the stage for DAW-less improvisation. In 2025, he made his live debut at Dekmantel Festival. As relevant as ever, Satoshi continues to make waves in the electronic music community like only he can. 東京生まれ。クラシック・ピアノ教育を受け、ジャズに興味を持つ。学生期にバンド活動を経てDJを始め、クラブ・ミュージックの制作手法へと辿り着き、’88年頃に制作したデモで世界への扉を開く。それが、フランキー・ナックルズに渡した「Tears」（’89）であり、このワールドワイド・ヒットを機にNYCへ拠点を移し、DEF MIX PRODUCTIONSに加入。 ハウス・ミュージックがシーンを席巻する’90年代に、坂本龍一「Heartbeat」（’91）のプロデュース＋同ツアー参加、LOOP 7、Black Shells、盟友・木村コウとのLevel 9など複数の名義を操り、自身の作品を発表。’99年にアルバム『FULL LICK』をリリース、DJとして多忙なツアーを続けつつ、作品の発表を継続。 ソロやコラボ作品をリリースする拠点として立ち上げた[Abstract Architecture]から、セカンド・アーティスト・アルバム『New Day』（’15）をリリース。続いて、Ron Trent、DJ Sneak、Maayan Nidam、Fred P、Cab Drivers、Brawther、Hugo LXらのリミックスを収録した『Abstract Nature』（’17）を発表。2024年に9年ぶりのオリジナル・アルバム 『Magic Hour』 を発表。ソロ作品はYoyaku、Phonogramme、2020 Visionなどからも、主にレコードでリリースし続けている。 ソロ活動と並行して、エレクトリックジャズ、ダブ、エクスペリメンタルノイズを取り入れたプロジェクトA_Aを展開。同名アルバム『A_A』（’18）、『Radiant-Dissonant』 （’23）、ライブアルバム 『Diskordant』 （’24）をリリース。完全ハードウェアのジャムセッションによるライブ一発録音というスタイルで、シングルを含めレコード中心に作品を発表し続け、2026年には サードアルバム『Ubiquity』をリリース。 近年はモジュラーシンセ、ドラムマシン、サンプラーなどのハードウェア機材を使用したDAWレスのインプロヴィゼーションによるライブセットを展開。そのパフォーマンスと制作手法を常に進化させ続けている。2025年にはDekmantel Festivalでライブアクトとしてのデビューを果たし、2026年はDekmantel Till Dawn, Dimentions, Stone Techno Festivalなどへの出演が予定されている 。 30年以上のDJキャリアを持つ現在も、ヨーロッパ、南北アメリカ、東京などを中心に世界各地のクラブやフェスティバルでプレイ。ハウスとテクノを横断する独自のサウンドを届け続けている。
