Do Gen-Z Dream of “Serenity”? Our meditation is cut off by the light and noise of a world scrolling at violent speed—a glitch slips into our daily loop. “Gémeaux” Percussion Duo is a Japanese percussion duo group formed by Leo Shibanuma and Anzu Harigai. The name was taken from Toru Takemitsu’s orchestral piece "Gémeaux". As the name suggests, their aim is to focus on performing contemporary music. In their concert series CROSSWHEN, they curate works to be performed not only by themselves but also together with other musicians, exploring the possibilities of contemporary music. “CROSSWHEN II – Ben Nobuto MIX!!!” marks the first Japan composer portrait of Japanese-British composer Ben Nobuto. For him, the fusion of electronics and acoustics breaks down the boundaries between contemporary music, classical music, and pop, giving rise to a chaotic and electrifying sound world. Such a provocative experiment will unfold in a concert hall in Shibuya. Centered around works for percussion, and Japan premiere of "Serenity 2.0 for strings, percussion and electronics" etc and two new commissions. Japanese Gen Z musicians bring Nobuto’s sonic vision to life — Where Parallel Lines Meet, CROSSWHEN returns.
