W Osaka’s WEEKEND BLACKBOX SESSION returns with a special summer edition at the WET DECK! For one night only, W Osaka transforms its poolside terrace into a summer sushi bar, bringing together music, sushi, drinks, and the open-air energy of the city. Set against the atmosphere of the WET DECK, this edition welcomes Tokyo-based female sushi chef Sushi LION for a special collaboration, alongside a lineup of DJs delivering house, techno, and dance music throughout the evening. Originally from Ishikawa, Sushi LION was raised close to Japan’s culinary traditions, with family roots in Japanese cuisine and grandparents who loved fishing. Today, she brings her traveling sushi experience to destinations around the world, collaborating with brands including Red Bull, YETI, ABEMA, and Tomorrowland. For this special night at W Osaka, she joins WET DECK to create a one-of-a-kind poolside experience. Music will be led by special guest CHRISTIAN SMITH, the Swedish DJ, producer, and label owner who has helped shape the global techno scene for more than 30 years. Known for his powerful, groove-driven peak-time techno, he has performed at leading festivals and club institutions including Awakenings, Tomorrowland, Drumcode Festival, Ultra Music Festival, and Amsterdam Dance Event. His music has been released on respected labels such as Drumcode, Cocoon, Bedrock, Plus 8, and Filth on Acid, and supported by artists including Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, and Joseph Capriati. In 1995, he founded Tronic, now regarded as one of the world’s leading techno labels and home to artists such as ANNA, Enrico Sangiuliano, Paco Osuna, and Wehbba. After appearing at W Osaka’s WEEKEND BLACKBOX SESSION this January, he now returns to Japan for an exclusive one-off performance. Also joining the night is TENNAN from the UK, a rising name in house and techno known for his dedication to sound quality and analogue-driven production. Having studied Music Technology in Leeds, TENNAN has built momentum through releases and support from respected names across the global underground scene, including Marco Carola, Steve Lawler, Lee Foss, Nicole Moudaber, Matthias Tanzmann, Richy Ahmed, Cuartero, and Detlef. YUUKI YOSHIYAMA, W Osaka’s Music & Entertainment Director, brings home a sound refined on some of the world’s most iconic stages. With releases on labels such as Toolroom Records and performances at EDC, Tomorrowland in Belgium, Bootshaus in Germany, and Amsterdam Dance Event, his global trajectory continues to expand. Earlier this March, he also appeared at Tomorrowland Winter 2026 in France as the only Japanese artist on the lineup, further cementing his presence on the world stage. His sound moves between precision and emotion, forming a core axis of the night. MARVY, a DJ and producer known for building his own musical stories through groove work rooted in house and techno. Since beginning his DJ career in 2010, he has performed as a main act at leading clubs across Japan and has expanded his presence across Asia and Europe. In recent years, his productions have gained support from world-class DJs, including releases connected to Armada Music’s Days Like Nights. In 2026, he launched his own party, CARNIVAL, at ZEROTOKYO, bringing a refined, mature approach to Tokyo’s club culture. DMITRI ABSINTHE, originally from Russia and now based in Osaka, brings a deeply cultivated musical perspective shaped by years in Tel Aviv’s underground scene. His sets move fluidly across deep and soulful house, disco, and hypnotic techno, balancing warmth with intensity and guiding the floor with an intuitive, narrative-driven flow. MAX PELA, born in the Dominican Republic and now based in Japan, channels a globally rooted deep and afro house sound. With a career spanning over two decades, he has built his presence across Latin America, the US, and Asia, while developing his own platform, House of Pela. His sets fuse organic rhythm with modern dancefloor energy, connecting heritage with forward momentum. Also appearing is SATOSHI TANAKA, a Kobe and Osaka-based DJ and organizer whose style moves fluidly across techno, tech house, deep house, and progressive house. Inspired by the New York house scene of the 1990s and artists such as Sasha and John Digweed, he has continued to evolve through parties including CONNECT and performances across Tokyo and Asia. And COCO, an emerging DJ active mainly across the Kansai scene, bringing her own fresh energy to the poolside dancefloor. From poolside sunset energy to late-night grooves, this special edition brings together sushi, champagne, dance music, and the unmistakable atmosphere of W Osaka. Join us at WET DECK for a summer night shaped by music, food, and the city’s open-air rhythm.
