This month’s Bisous is here. For May, we welcome two female DJs based in Osaka and Kyoto. Curating textured electronic music ranging from ambient and trip-hop to deep techno, bass music, and experimental sounds, these two artists will color the BNA space. / 《 Featured Artists 》 Air -A long-established ambient party with a quarter-century of history, “U.V.” was revived in 2023 at “BARWOLS,” where she began her career as a DJ. It was there that she was discovered and named by the event’s organizer, DJ DUNE, also known as Kazuya Sakurai. Her sound seeks to embody an ambiguous contour—grand, floating, and mysterious. By irregularly weaving in bass music and dub, she evokes waves of modern, uplifting breakbeats. The name “Air” is derived from “Airi”, omitting the “i” that represents “identity,” to express both “空(emptiness)” (a Buddhist concept) and air, free from any constraints. anemone -DJ based in Kyoto. Her career began at BAR WOLS, a sound bar curated by Laserist “SENCE OF WONDER.” Moving across Ambient, Electro, Breakbeats, House, and Techno, she developed a style rooted in texture rather than genre. Her sound has since evolved into a more refined form, expanding her presence from Kyoto to Osaka and Tokyo. Layering intricate, curved sounds, her sets carry an unsettling, off-kilter sonic character, evoking a deep-sea-like pressure. Depth unfolds, bringing the floor into an immersive space. /
