In Praise of Shadows feat.Mystica Tribe

A digital dub project by Tokyo-based artist Taka Noda. After performing in several bands and units, he launched Mystica Tribe in 2010. Describing his own sound as “downer psychedelic music influenced by dub, bass music, soul, and garage,” Mystica Tribe has garnered a dedicated following in the underground scene. In September 2011, Mystica Tribe made its debut with the Meditation Stick EP on the Rotterdam-based Dutch label SD Records. This was followed by the releases of the Flowers EP and Stars Are Mine EP on the same label in 2013. In January 2014, the track “His Temple” was featured on FABRICLIVE 73: Pangaea, part of the renowned FABRICLIVE mix CD series. Later in 2014, Taka Noda established his own label, MYSTICA TRIBE RECORDS, releasing the LIZARD EP as its first title, followed by the JADE EYE EP in 2016. In 2017, Mystica Tribe released its debut album Island Oasis along with the 7-inch Far West Sound on the Canadian label Silent Season. In 2018, the Love Is All Right EP was released via Canada’s Solar Phenomena, followed by a remix version, DJ Sotofett’s Dub Ash Mixes, in 2019. In 2022, Taka Noda collaborated with Dutch producer Danny Wolfers (known for projects such as Legowelt) under the name Noda & Wolfers, releasing the album Tascam Space Season. Their second album, Evil Fades In Echo, was released in 2024. In 2023, he released the collaborative album Glow World with Rod Modell (also known as Deepchord) under the name Rod Modell & Taka Noda via the Italian label Silentes. The same year, he released the 7-inch Ido on the U.S. label ZamZam Sounds, followed by the 7-inch Midnight Mirage on Canada’s Moon Garden in 2024. In 2024, Noda & Wolfers released the album Evil Fades In Echo, followed by Avant Garde Rhythm Box in 2026.
