Nightlife Today

Clarke Quay is a 2-minute walk from Clarke Quay MRT (NE5).

Clarke Quay is Singapore's most concentrated nightlife district — a riverside stretch of repurposed 19th-century warehouses and shophouses packed with clubs, bars, and late-night restaurants. If you want to go out in Singapore, this is where you start. The area sits on the Singapore River, compact enough to walk end-to-end in 10 minutes. Clarke Quay is unpretentious compared to Marina Bay's premium venues — more gritty, more local, louder, and cheaper. The crowd ranges from after-work office workers starting at 7pm to serious clubbers rolling in after midnight. Zouk anchors one end; Boat Quay's more relaxed bar strip is a short walk away. Peak hours are midnight to 3am on Friday and Saturday. The area is genuinely alive on weekday evenings too — especially Wednesdays (ladies' night across most clubs).

Venue Highlights

Zouk Singapore — Singapore's most iconic club with four rooms — Main Room (electronic), Phuture (hip hop/R&B), Capital (VIP/bottles), and Red Tail (bar/lounge). International headliners and a crowd that takes its music seriously. Cover $20–$35.
Fenix Room — Premium bottle-service club with VIP sofas and private rooms. Commercial EDM/hip hop soundtrack. Table packages from $2,500 for 12. More exclusive than Zouk — book ahead on weekends.
Attica — Clarke Quay institution known for a mixed crowd and commercial house/R&B. Open-air elements make it feel less crowded than fully indoor clubs. One of the older names on the strip — reliable rather than cutting-edge.
Crazy Elephant — Live blues, rock, and R&B every night. The oldest live music venue in Clarke Quay — proper stage, live bands, cold beers. Great for warming up before the clubs or as an alternative if you're not in the mood for EDM.
The Pump Room — Craft beer bar with live sports and one of the best outdoor riverside terraces in the area. Ideal for post-work pints before the clubs open.

Practical Tips

  • Clubs enforce dress codes on weekends — no shorts, sandals, sleeveless tops for men, or athletic wear; smart casual (jeans, shirts, clean sneakers) is safe
  • Cover charges: bars free, mid-tier clubs like Attica $15–$25, premium clubs like Zouk and Fenix $25–$40 on weekends
  • Drinks: beer at bars $8–$12, beer at clubs $15–$20, cocktails $18–$28, bottles $350–$800 depending on venue
  • Last MRT is around midnight — Clarke Quay station closes before the clubs do. Grab is reliable and runs all night ($10–$20 for a city ride)
  • Guest lists are available for most clubs — check their Instagram or official websites before you go
  • Best nights: Fridays for crowd and price balance, Saturdays for biggest acts (longer queues), Wednesdays for ladies' night which is surprisingly busy
