N'namdi Listening Session with Kobie Dozier

Kobie Dozier is a multi hyphenate saxophonist, composer, and curator who has been making waves in both Los Angeles and New York City. With a background rooted primarily in jazz, Kobie has been forging his path in these cities by curating and performing at community focused events that combine music with wellness, dance, and culture. Following the release of his debut EP For The People in January 2025, Kobie has grown extensively and is now hosting an early listening session for his first full length album, N'namdi. An ode to his ancestors, culture, and city, this project reflects the meaning of Kobie’s name: Kobie N'namdi Dozier. A warrior worthy of praise whose grandfather lives within him. Rooted in a fusion of jazz, soul, R&B, highlife, and more, the album draws on Kobie’s unique foundation as a West Coast musician while resonating with musical influences from across the African diaspora. This is N'namdi. Meet Kobie Dozier. Born on the East Coast and raised in the West, Kobie grew up in Los Angeles surrounded by music from across the city as he developed as a young saxophone player. Throughout his journey, he frequently performed with musicians from the Leimert Park community. There, he received private lessons from Ricky Washington and had the honor of knowing legends like Reggie Andrews, who helped shape major jazz artists such as Kamasi Washington and Terrace Martin. A recent graduate of The New School, Kobie is now making waves as one of the rising artists from Los Angeles. He recently completed his “For The People” tour, which took place in both his hometown of Los Angeles and his new home, New York City, selling out multiple venues and drawing hundreds of attendees. He is now preparing to debut his newest project for 2026: N'namdi.
