A sonic journey, where synthesizers, strings, and custom electronic audio instruments open up space for reflection, intention, and divination. --- Wes Marcarelli is a musician, electronics engineer, and educator exploring sound as a medium for spiritual inquiry and environmental research. Through his current project ‘nguento he uses modular synthesizers, traditional instruments, field recordings, and custom-built circuits to create immersive sonic environments. Over the past 20 years he has performed across the United States and Europe and has released several albums both independently and through Tiger Asylum Records. Wes extends his practice through workshops, approaching electronics design as an esoteric process that bridges technical systems with deeper, experiential understandings of the world. In 2017 he began STEM Modular through which he has created a line of synthesizer modules as well as educational material and electronics classes. He is currently developing an electronic instrument that generates sound from ambient electromagnetic energy and wireless transmissions, further exploring the relationship between signal, environment, and perception. Crystal Peñalosa is an electronic musician and interdisciplinary designer exploring self-compassion, authenticity, and personal safety. She has released music independently and through Soap Library, Topos Press, and has presented solo and collaborative works at The New School, MoMA PS1, Roulette, Issue Project Room, among others. With co-host Sodomahigomorra, she runs Hole Vision, a monthly show on the Lot Radio that dissolves borders through the sonic expressions and experiences of trans artists in NYC and beyond. She currently serves as a Product Designer with the New Jersey Innovation Authority, teaches Physical Computing at the School of Visual Arts, and volunteers with Voluminous Arts, a transgender liberation project in Queens, New York. Ximena Bedoya is a sound artist based in New York. She delves into architectural tones, suspended harmonics and drifting overtones, invocations from the pedal steel guitar, an instrument that itself is alive with ethereal resonance. She uses a variety of tools and preparations to activate the space while exploring concepts of chance, impermanence, control and release. Her current practice focuses on the interconnections between sound, video and sculptural objects.
