Where the rubber meets the road: loop001 Our 1st party under our new header and our 5th as four heads put together. Still rooted in the same energy as our previous iterations, this new series makes good on those promises. No better way to get this thing started than double-digit hours of sounds from across the many territories of tripped-out, techy psychedelia ⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳⟳ [Mama Snake] Mama Snake is in a lane of her own. Over the past decade, the Copenhagen-based DJ and label head behind Amniote Editions has been an essential figure in the emergence of a strain of techno that’s infused with a modern take on trance, one that holds onto a melodic core while pushing into heavier, more driving territory. There’s a definite physicality in how her sets move between intensity and release, and a subtle eclecticism to her selection. Tightly wound rhythms, rolling momentum, and moments of emotional attunement feel precise but never rigid. [Lora Mipsum] Lora Mipsum’s sound draws from the language of 90s and 00s progressive house and trance, brought to the present through a more psychedelic, tech-leaning lens. The Londoner’s all-vinyl sets are both textural and breezy, folding rolling grooves and nostalgic melodies into tripped-out layers and pressure-building moments. Outside the booth, she runs the reissue label Slush and co-organizes WHOMP, a not-for-profit party that’s been steadily building its own loyal following in the London underground scene. Her 2024 Earth Dog mix and her recent contribution to the SUB:SYSTEM series are both perfect examples of the fluid and propulsive energy we’re anticipating from Lora Mipsum at loop001. [DJ Healthy] DJ Healthy is one of the most humbly hard-working figures in New York City, with an air of effortless swag and quiet consistency in all the moves he makes. Born in Yokohama and now based in Brooklyn, DJ Healthy operates as a liaison between the New York and Tokyo scenes through his continent-spanning PACIFIC MODE party series and Sustain-Release Tokyo, as well as his broader curatorial work. His versatile style leans toward chuggy basslines, hazy psychedelic grooves, and slightly off-center possibilities. Drawing from left-field techno, bass, and experimentally-housey sounds that favor mood and flow, his sets build an immersive sort of pressure that invite you to get lost within them. We could not be more honored to have him close out the morning hours of loop001! [Emsho] Born and Raised in Tehran, Emsho is a DJ and producer now based in NYC. Emerging from the Iranian underground, her path has since taken her through a range of scenes, shaping a sound that resists easy categorization. As a DJ, her loyalty lies with rhythm over genre. Her diverse taste lends to a dynamic dancefloor experience that traverses Latin and UK influences, trippy and hypnotic elements, and moody sounds pulled from the undergrounds of Brooklyn and Berlin. A well-established yet understated presence in the New York scene, Emsho’s played widely across local clubs and parties while also holding down a Ladies on Wax residency, hosting the Crew Cuts party series, and frequenting the Lot Radio. Her fluidity lends itself to a sense of ease behind the decks, but also to a sentiment of intentionality: finding a place of belongingness in music, and a way of holding space for complexity while making room for release. [SPF 50 (live)] Producer, DJ, and audio engineer SPF 50 brings his sizzling live techno set to loop001. His live set—which debuted as a total barn-burner at Dripping 2025—leans toward the deep and meditative, built on bouncy low-end, lush grooves, and driving-yet-organic psychedelia. Heady percussion, acidic flashes, and twinkling synth lines stretch and fold over themselves, moving through exploratory passages and opening up into full-bodied, club-shaking surges. Beyond his solo work, Stephan is one half of the iconic roaming party series Bob and Shirley, where space, environment, and discovery are central to the experience. That same sensibility carries through to his live act, which makes the dancefloor feel less like a room than a propulsive current you’ve slipped into. [Matas] New York City’s own Matas is someone who’s been inside every corner of the scene—from working in record shops and in sound crews, to throwing DIY parties and clocking in behind club decks—and now as one of the organizers behind the loop party series. That depth of his familiarity shows up in how he plays. As a DJ, Matas knows the room from the inside out, and as a sound technician at Nowadays, he’s got a trustworthy hand for working any system. His sets drive through progressive rollers, hard-working grooves, and weighty techno cuts, keeping intensity steady and mischief always on the table. Ask just about anyone and you’ll hear it — Matas has subtley become a constant for the New York scene. It’s hard to imagine the city without Matas in the mix.
