Marking the final Nonstop of the month, we have a high-contrast mega-watt roster of artists—ranging from agile newcomers to current torchbearers and unclockable pillars of the craft—who all uniquely explore and celebrate the tonal interplay between light and dark, the expanse of moods between humor and intensity, and the unexpected beauty that blossoms between tension and release. The evening begins in trustworthy hands, with NYC-via-Seattle DJ, producer, and co-founder of Accessory Records Miles Mercer making his Nonstop debut. Renowned on both coasts and beyond for wide-ranging, deep-digging DJ sets and adventurous yet sharply-focused productions that both represent and push the limits of contemporary American underground dance music scenes, Mercer’s sonic palette oscillates between blithe whimsy and bass weight, contrasting light-heartedness and paranoia in pursuit of dazzling dancefloor beauty equal parts easy and energetic. Similarly self-situated between the whimsical and the mischievous, NYC-via-Sweden DJ, producer, and resident of much-loved New York underground party series Bob & Shirley, SPF50 offers a live set that drives us further into the darkness, splicing deeper, hypnotically rhythmic, and kaleidoscopically atmospheric strains of techno into immersive psychedelic sound worlds, all while opening onto a playful, blissed-out sensibility always bubbling just beneath the surface of his sonic sculptures. Not only understanding the assignment but totally freaking it into tomorrow, international dancefloor faves and beloved Nowadays residents Kia and livwutang join forces for a hotly-anticipated extended b2b that will deftly traverse the darkest corners of night to prime the floor for the illuminating warmth of daybreak. Cutting her teeth in the underground of Naarm and flexing her curatorial prowess as label boss for her Animalia and Cirrus imprints, Kia has time-and-again proven herself a master of almost any mood and context, a skill and sensibility she shares with livwutang, who, throughout her epic rise to the upper echelons of both local and international performance circuits, has always prioritized nuance, narrative, and personal truth since her early days on the decks in Seattle’s eclectic DIY scene. Bravely unbothered by trend and brazenly unafraid of risk, these two selectors have never wavered while plotting their respectively idiosyncratic, deeply personal trajectories through the weird, wonderous fringes of mind-bogglingly diverse dancefloor idioms, a twinned spirit that’s sure to be on full display as sunrise sneaks through the windows of a room they’ve both enraptured countless times. Breakfast is served by another club favorite, Nowadays resident Ayesha, whose morning set is sure to wake up the heavier, more hypnotic, dub-oriented motifs from our journey thusfar and arrange them into a spellbinding spread that, like her productions, blends elements of America’s techno underground with leftfield UK sounds and diasporic influences from her Indian heritage. Moving across various tempos, rhythms, contexts, and traditions with ease, Ayesha astoundingly connects the dots between serious club power and pulsating psychedelic playfulness with a chic, stylish versatility that has rendered her a force to be reckoned with behind the decks. Rounding out this Nonstop’s exploration of the psychedelia of contrast is an extended set from a force of nature who needs little introduction: Wata Igarashi. One of the most refined, visionary, and singular figures to emerge from the contemporary Japanese techno scene, Igarashi seems to always be on 100% stun-mode while transforming dancefloors into shimmering, cosmic dramas awash in mesmerizing synths, spiraling arpeggios, and riveting leitmotifs, delivered with exquisite attention to detail amid relentlessly psychedelic sonic pyrotechnics and hyper-controlled crystalline sound architecture. Never to be accused of genre purism while practically defining the apex of tunnel techno form, traces of Igarashi’s past as a punk guitarist and experimental jazz drummer reliably sneak into his sets and productions alike, constantly informing his encyclopedically eclectic, enthrallingly erudite shows-of-force. /// RSVP is $10 before 11pm and $15 before midnight. An RSVP is good for one person. If you're bringing friends, please have them RSVP here as well. We stop taking RSVPs at 6pm on the day of the party. In order to receive the RSVP discount, you must be at the ticket desk by the cutoff time and not just in line. It's wise to arrive early to make sure you're not standing in line when the time comes. An RSVP does not guarantee entry. Sometimes parties do sell out, so if you want to be sure you'll get in, it's best to grab a ticket in advance. /// Entry is at the discretion of our door staff. Online purchases are limited to four tickets maximum per person. If tickets are sold out here, we always hold a good amount at the door. We will do our best to admit those without tickets but entrance is not guaranteed. Nonstop tickets are divided by entry time. You must arrive during the hours listed on your ticket. For example, if you buy a "10PM–4AM" ticket, you must get here between 10pm and 4am. After you've arrived during your designated time window, you can stay as long as you'd like, so long as you abide by our safer space policy (more on that below). You're also welcome to come and go as you please. Re-entry is based on capacity and is not guaranteed. Nonstop attendees can attend Mister Sunday in the backyard starting at 3 pm without buying a separate ticket, and Nonstop re-entry is honored during Mister Sunday. Violence, non-consensual touching, racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, ageist or other discriminatory language, and leering are not allowed within our walls or in our back yard. If someone says or does something to make you feel uncomfortable while you’re here, let us know. /// Accessibility: The wheelchair entrance to our indoor space is in the driveway, which is the access point most commonly used to enter Nowadays. During parties the driveway gate is locked, so please ask staff at the street entrance for assistance with entry. All of our bathrooms are gender-neutral. There is one accessible stall indoors. Just ask any Nowadays staff member for the key, and they can show you the way. During parties, seating is available both on and off the dance floor. While we don’t have a dedicated quiet space indoors during parties, the booths next to coat check are a little quieter, and the deck and back yard a little quieter than that. Most nighttime parties include the use of strobe lights and water based haze.
