halima presents…Club Cocoa. Club Cocoa is an emerging queer party series founded by NYC-based Nigerian artist Halima - built for the diaspora, by the diaspora. Sweat, sweetness and sound fuse in one expansive celebration of our heritage. Acting as a reclamation of the intrinsically queer African cultures that have been misrepresented, erased, or buried for too long. Club Cocoa is a safe space to exist freely, to be your whole self, and to remember that your existence has always been worth celebrating. A call out to the queer African babes, Club Cocoa is a meeting point for the pan-African where legacy lands on the dance floor. Inspired by the spirit of Lagos’ Festac 77 festival, Club Cocoa functions as a remembrance of a culture where we dream and build together. NYC’s finest selectors will journey us through the night: Ubabu, Daniro & Cry$cross, known for their individual dedication to sonic subversion and late-night heat.
