FETISH ATTIRE MANDATORY BOUND returns! Mac Declos headlines the night. The Parisian artist is a mainstay of Anetha’s Mama Told Ya label, and for anyone tuning in it’s not hard to see why. Declos’ music mixes the pure, rushing propulsion of techno with a wide-ranging musicality. Moments of cinematic grandeur, arena-sized pops of color and stepping, UK-tinged garage all get worked into his singular tapestry. Last year’s “Nothing Stands Still” LP is a testament to the breadth and coherence of his vision. The LP is a start-to-finish tour-de-force that sees Declos at the top of his game. High speed renegade Akua returns to the room. One of the key voices of NY’s techno renaissance, Akua takes a distinctly afro-futuristic approach. Her sets explode with tightly coiled percussive maximalism and a taut psychedelia that draws direct inspiration from the lineage of Robert Hood and mid-’90s Jeff Mills. But Akua runs with those influences, transmuting them into something modern and her own. Her sets in BASEMENT have been consistent highlights, and she’s been a repeat performer at BOUND. The founder and resident Katie Rex ties it all together. Rex has evolved into one of the most consistently impactful American techno DJs operating today. She harnesses the volatile chaos of high-BPM loop techno, teasing out the innate grooviness in the melee. Mike Servito returns to STUDIO to do what only he can. A master of all things jacking and acidic, Servito has become a leading light for countless artists following in his wake. Who else simultaneously embodies the best of Detroit and Chicago’s heyday while remaining in stride with the moment? Servito accomplishes this by letting the music speak for itself above all else. Smartbar affiliate Jaq Attaque makes his debut. A Chicago legend, his credentials include over three decades behind the decks. He imbues everything he does with a staunch, Midwest rave spirit. Haruka adds a twist to the night. The NY artist has a track called “Wavyyy,” which could double as a mission statement. Haruka’s wonky, endlessly refreshing take on deep house synthesizes decades of musical history into something that feels completely current and perfectly strange. ■ No photos or videos ■ Ticket purchase does not guarantee entrance ■ No phone use on the dancefloor ■ The dance floor is for dancing, not conversation ■ No glowing/flashing clothes or items ■ Respect other people's space, no shuffling ■ Consent is mandatory ■ Zero tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism or any form of discrimination ■ Take care of each other, alert our staff if somebody isn't feeling well ■ Violating the house rules will result in removal PLEASE REVIEW HOUSE POLICIES AT LINK BELOW
