LISTENING SESSION: Plaase + Di Anita + Sophie Lou

Gather for an evening of live performance from Plaase, Di Anita, and Sophie Lou. Sophie Lou is a French-American musician based in Brooklyn, NY. With a “formal restlessness," as a poetry mentor once noted, their practice takes after poet Fanny Howe’s frame of bewilderment as “more than an attitude—but an actual approach, a way—to resolve the unresolvable.” Their sound is influenced by twee, emo, and slowcore sensibilities. Paramount to their daily motions is the treatment of this world as a co-apprentice. They have an album forthcoming. Di Anita is a solo project based in Brooklyn, NY, using voice, guitar, and field recordings. These organic resonances flow in and out of the electronic soundscape, redolent of nature’s cycles and patterns. Plaase (pronounced Plah-ss) is an experimental duo, focused on guitar-keyboard interplay and strong melody indebted to post-rock and lounge music.
