For this year’s Earth Month, Art Switch Foundation — a NYC/AMS-based nonprofit at the intersection of art and climate action — teams up with Reforesters Laboratory and DJs for Climate Action (DJs4CA) to connect people through sound. Together, we aim to raise climate awareness, build local communities, and spark global impact. Sonic Acts of Nature unfolds as a sonic auditory documentation of transformation, inviting you to bathe in an immersive listening environment of underground sounds. Rooted in artist Nikki Lindt’s rarely accessible subterranean arctic soundscapes and shaped through x3butterfly’s genre-fluid practice, this performance will weave subterranean sounds into a sonic field, tracing the frequency of a warming and shifting world, where underground rhythmic vibrations reflect nature’s increased BPM. Part DJ set, part environmental soundscape — Sonic Acts of Nature offers a space to listen closely and to feel ecological shifts beyond data or language. As temperatures change and our climate evolves, so do the sounds and rhythms of nature. Glaciers melt, permafrost thaws, tundras fade while sea levels rise, rivers accelerate, and storms intensify. This is an assembly of disappearing and drifting sounds, where ecological transformation becomes audible through vibrational fragments and rhythms.
