m preis presents my dreams

m preis is a Slovene-born, Berlin-residing composer and harpist whose work stretches beyond the harp’s traditional vocabulary. Moving between fragility and abrasion, melody and noise, and engaging expanded instrumental practice, voice, and various types of field recordings, they create worlds that feel both otherworldly and grounded in surrealism. After years of researching the landscapes of sleep, they are due to release their sophomore album, my dreams are only nightmares, in autumn 2026 on the Swiss label -ous. As part of their month-long artistic residency in NYC, they will be spending time at Reforesters, exploring ways of weaving hand-picked sounds from the album together with newly composed and improvised pieces into an immersive sonic dream state. --- Urška Preis, aka m preis, is a composer, harpist, visual artist, and writer. They are currently researching dreams, nightmares and other sleep disruptions. Their main instruments are acoustic and electric harp, with a tendency of extracting uncharacteristic sounds from them. Their debut album “bare” was released by Kamizdat Records in autumn 2018 under moniker rouge-ah. After numerous change of moniker to m preis they are scheduled for a sophomore release in early fall 2026 on -ous.
