Detroit Love lands in Los Angeles for a special collaboration with In Between, celebrating not only the global legacy of Detroit’s electronic music movement, but the living lineage that continues to shape dancefloors around the world today. Few cities have contributed more to the future of music than Detroit. Detroit techno has evolved across generations, each wave reinterpreting the soul, machine funk, and forward-thinking ethos of the last. This night brings together three artists who represent a powerful cross-section of that continuum. Carl Craig, a defining figure of Detroit’s second generation, helped transform techno from underground futurism into an expansive global language -bridging dance music with jazz, classical composition, and contemporary art through his Planet E platform and decades of groundbreaking releases. Kyle Hall stands as a torchbearer of the third generation, mentored by Detroit legends Moodymann and Rick Wilhite — carrying forward the city’s deep house and techno traditions into a new millennium through a raw, jazz-informed, and deeply personal approach to club music rooted in community and independence. Representing the contemporary fourth generation, JMT channels Detroit’s post-genre future -blending techno, house, electro, ambient, and ghettotech into a sound that honors the past while pushing toward new sonic territory. Raised in a city where Movement Festival is heritage and Carl Craig is canon, this next wave continues Detroit’s legacy of Black electronic futurism with fresh urgency and global fluency. Together, Carl Craig, Kyle Hall, and JMT reflect three distinct generations of Detroit’s musical evolution — from originators to expansionists to modern-day continuationists — offering a rare opportunity to experience the sound of a city’s past, present, and future on one dancefloor.
