We celebrate 2 years of setten event series, general awesomeness of Barcelona’s Pan-African multi-disciplinary artist collective Jokkoo, and our independent and DIY ethos with many of our friends and comrades joining. Day 1 Saturday night features all 6 members of Jokkoo taking part in showcasing some of the most cutting-edge club sounds beyond the confinement of Western categories inspired by global sound system culture including the return of a sensational live outfit Nexus (B4mba + Mooki6) and fresh b2b sets with Berlin local favourites Gavsborg and Sami, and setten host Yuko Asanuma. Day 2 Sunday evening brings an array of adventurous live performances consisting of yet to be heard collaborations between Astan KA & Dudù Kouate, Hans Arsen & Mooki6, Pasaporteman & Sara Persico. Local experimentalists Eiliyas and Robert Machiri, as well as Chris Ryan Williams from Brooklyn NYC will join with their solo sets. There will be a big jam session led by Opoku too. [Jokkoo Collective] Jokkoo, a Wolof word meaning connection, was founded in Barcelona with the intention to investigate, connect with and contribute to experimental and alternative arts from the African continent, its diaspora and allied communities around the world. They platform dissident, experimental interventions that create moments for sharing energy and ideas, histories and visions of the future. The collective counts on six different personalities with common objectives, Baba Sy, Maguette Dieng (Mbodj), Oscar Taylor (Opoku), Nicolas Beliot (Mooki6), Ismäel N ́diaye (B4mba) and Miriam Camara (TNTC). The collective explores a wide range of practices including DJing, curation and programming, music production, composition for theater, dance and film, videography, 3D design, audiovisual performances and plastic arts. They have built a studio at FOC, an industrial space in Zona Franca, Barcelona managed in collaboration with Choro, an experimental art pedagogy collective, Canino FM, an independent and non-profit radio and Fondo, a collective focused on performance arts and education. Together they support a cultural program that is constantly evolving, regularly transforming the space through interdisciplinary events. Join us for this rare occasion and experience the full spectrum of the Jokkoo universe over the two evenings. Admission €15-20 OTD for each day (+ €5 membership fee if you are not a member yet.) Looking forward to seeing you all ♡
