Subverted. Victorian Edition

We celebrate the aesthetics of an era but not the oppression, hierarchy and norms that came with it. We celebrate the drama, craftsmanship and beauty of the Victorian era while subverting its rules: cross-dress, transgress, blur gender, destroy respectability. Corsetry, bustles, mourning blacks, lace, frock coats, silk, wool, steel and lace become tools of liberation instead of control. Victorian fashion once disciplined the body - here, it frees it. Industrial rigidity softens into romantic excess. Victorian silhouettes collide with punk elements: latex, leather and vinyl interrupt lace and tweed.
