Aquasonic Records washes ashore at Sameheads for a night of subaquatic rhythm, oddball electronics and genre-bending club mutations. A deep-frequency transmission of psychedelic acid, kosmische electronics, broken funk, dubwise pressure, post-punk twang and deep studio oddities, featuring Philadelphia’s Zillas on Acid, a live set from CV Vision, Aquasonic founders Rudolf Abramov and Uzimoto. Expect slow-motion death disco, tape-laced kraut grooves, jacking acid, modular drift, hypnotic melodies and sounds that refuse to sit neatly in any folder. Artist Bios Zillas on Acid is Thomas Roland and James Weissinger, DJs for the past 18 years at MAKING TIME, Philadelphia's never-ending nightlife institution. Producing their own blend of psychedelic acid house for fave labels such as Optimo Music, Live at Robert Johnson, Ivan Smagghe’s Les Disques de la Mort, Running Back, Dischi, Multi-Culti, Polari, and NEUBAU, the Zillas mix slow-motion death disco, dubbed-out drum machine music, and of course jacking ACID to excite party people from all planets. CV Vision (Live electronic set) is the Berlin-based project of multi-instrumentalist Dennis Schulze. Drawing inspiration from kosmische music, library records, dub, proto-techno, psychedelic rock and experimental electronics, Schulze creates densely layered compositions built from live instrumentation, tape manipulation and heavy rhythmic structures. His releases on labels such as Bureau B and Growing Bin Records move fluidly between hypnotic kraut grooves, cinematic synth textures and raw DIY production aesthetics. Rudolf Abramov Optimo Music / Höga Nord alumni, the Berlin-based duo behind the freshly founded label and creative platform Aquasonic Records, move through elastic IDM post-kraut, broken funk, dubwise electronics, hypnotic melodies and odd-timed post-punk twangs; a genre-bending experience that defies easy categorization. Or, as Andrew Weatherall once put it: Front 242 remixing Albert Ayler. Uzimoto music is a radiant mixture of post-punk, new wave and dub, blending analog synths and drum machines with tribal percussion and self-recorded sounds. Channeling the spirit of an obscure minimalist striving for immense, illuminating moments, Uzi reveals the contrast between his ruthless hyper-punk nature and a tender, delicate personality.
