90mil, a temporary DIY space in the heart of Berlin, presents round 2 of their farewell festival - this time with an all local lineup of Berlin’s finest across 3 floors, and countless corners… open studios, happenings, live music and never ending dance floors. Sometimes we need a reminder of why we fell in love with this city - so with this year's festival we are sharing and celebrating the Berlin we love. On May 1st, as the skies go dark, we invite you to converge under one roof. On this prolific day of rebellion, resistance, freedom and rave, we come together and pose the question once again - Is That All There Is? As a temporary home for Berlin’s counterculture, we see May 1st as a day to come together, to forge alliances, and to practice action and amplification through unity. While we watch time pass from our home in the city, we see Berlin losing its spaces for creation and togetherness, and freedom of expression stripped away. All this to the back drop of continued eyes turned blind to the normalisation of fascism, genocide, racism and war. In this place, we walk the tightrope between responsibility and anarchy; alliance and complicity; grief, rage and joy. So when the streets are forced closed, we will open our doors, from night until dawn with a programme that invites you in… 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟏 | 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟘𝟙.𝟘𝟝________ We kick off with 𝐌𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐍𝐈𝐋𝐒𝐒𝐎𝐍’s dreamy socio-political synth pop alongside a punk heavy line up from the likes of 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐒 , 𝐎𝐑𝐆𝐀𝐍𝐙𝐀 𝐑𝐀𝐘 and 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊 . A curated spoken word jam from 𝐀𝐍𝐖𝐀𝐀𝐑 (Music4Palestine) and 𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐈 𝐌𝐎 (NoAllianzwithGenocide) bring the themes of anti-colonial liberation and resistance to the forefront. And In ode to Berlin’s May Day raves, our club space boasts a stellar line up of the city’s party masters - taking us through the night and into day, with breakfast served for those who last… Workshops and happenings will litter every corner including Resistance Screen Printing, live record pressing in The Blue Room and momos from Taste of Tibet served throughout. Lastly, in the name of workers day, 15% or profits from the Friday night will be donated to two local groups; Black Sex Worker Collective and Lieferando Workers Collective. You can learn more about both organisations at the festival. 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟐 | 𝐒𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟘𝟚.𝟘𝟝________ On Saturday night we explore the depths of the diasporic influence on Berlin’s contemporary arts and music scene. In the project space we begin with the deeply personal lyrics of poet laureate and alt hip-hop artist 𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐒 𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐀𝐇, before entering into collective transcendence with 𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐂 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒, the futuristic jazz ensemble. As night gathers on, we share in 𝐆𝐀𝐕𝐒𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐆’s avant-garde dancehall and 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐑𝐀 𝐄𝐋𝐒𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 ’s shapeshifting, bass experimentalist sounds. In the club floor, 𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐘𝐃𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 and 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐀 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊 take to the mic with hybrid sets punctuating a DJ lineup with a global breadth of sounds from 𝐌𝐀𝐐𝐔𝐄, 𝐒𝐎𝐅𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐎𝐒, 𝐃𝐀𝐊𝐍 داكنْ, 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘𝐋𝐎𝐔, and others, moving through dark, swampy bass, to energetic perreo, leftfield explorations & more. In the movement space, dive into laughter and silliness with the participatory Slug Hole and the red-eyed late night meanderings of Dingo Date Night and friends. Throughout the evening, seek out performances and happenings around the fire, and enjoy food from Wildly Bitte, serving dishes from Lebanon, Syria and Palestine. This night is dedicated to the future of Berlin and to those who shape it. 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟑 | 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟘𝟛.𝟘𝟝________ On Sunday, we come down slowly. After two nights of heat and release, on May 3rd we turn inward, to hold what the weekend has stirred, and to dream. 𝐑𝐀𝐋𝐅 𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐋, 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐍 𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐅 and 𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐀 𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐒 are Friends with Oranges, and they open the evening in a timeless style, stirring up a sense of childlike awe and existential tenderness as they share the piano, their voices and their hearts in the service of each other's songs. 𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐗 𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐏 presents her most recent set of haunted lullabies; songs of grief, desire and the search for home, sculpted in real time and backed by field recordings, a chorus of voices and a string ensemble. 𝐎𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐑 𝐍𝐆𝐔 𝐀𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐀 presents Prototypes: Live Fragments. Developed between Berlin and Dakar, it combines electronic processes with instrumental composition to explore the relationships between archival and ancestral sound, material memory and spatial presence. A one-off trio of 𝐙𝐈𝐆𝐆𝐘 𝐙𝐄𝐈𝐓𝐆𝐄𝐈𝐒𝐓, 𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐊𝐔𝐓𝐈 and 𝐃𝐔𝐌𝐀𝐌𝐀 offer woodwind, percussion and poetry as a form of collective meditation. And finally 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐄 𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐎𝐒𝐇𝐈 and 𝐁𝐄𝐗 𝐁𝐔𝐑𝐂𝐇 close out the space with the delicate, hopeful, determined presence of their compositions for alto sax, flutes, voice, homemade marimba and percussions. In addition to the musical programme, throughout the evening various dancers kick up the dust and move our wishes through the space, with collaborative works and a special performance from 𝐒𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐀 𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐇𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐇, 𝐊𝐄𝐘𝐀 𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐇𝐓𝐄𝐑, 𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐄 𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐒 and 𝐊𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐊𝐒. And finally, as a blessing for your onward journey, we are sent off into the night by the simple and beautiful serenades of 𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐑 𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐀𝐑 , singing songs from Lebanon and Palestine. ________ TICKETS VIA OUR WEBSITE: 90mil.berlin Friends and Family tickets available for anyone who has performed at, organised or collaborated with 90mil this year.
