We’re excited to welcome two members of the groundbreaking collective Irreversible Entanglements (Impulse! / International Anthem) for a special in-store session. Moor Mother (Camae Ayewa) is a musician, poet, visual artist, Professor of Composition and one of the most vital voices in contemporary experimental music. Through her solo work, as well as with Irreversible Entanglements and 700 Bliss alongside DJ Haram, she has continuously pushed the boundaries between poetry, sound art, jazz, hip-hop, and Black Quantum Futurism. She also collaborated with billy woods on the acclaimed album BRASS, a landmark release drawing from hip-hop, jazz and spoken word. Joining her is Aquiles Navarro, a dynamic trumpeter, composer, and DJ of Panamanian heritage. Known for fusing avant-garde jazz with Afro-Caribbean and Latin traditions, his sound incorporates elements of folkloric music, salsa, and reggae. As a member of Irreversible Entanglements, Navarro has helped shape one of the most compelling sounds in contemporary creative music through a potent mix of spiritual jazz, experimental composition, and fearless improvisation. Expect a special DJ set, a signing, and a selection of limited Moor Mother records and Irreversible Entanglements related titles. Free entry. Capacity is limited in our basement space, so please reserve your spot in advance. RSVP: [email protected]
